Vacancy – Finance Lead

Humans Being is seeking a skilled and organised Finance Lead to oversee our financial management, supporting our mission and organisational growth.

Role Overview

In this role, you will manage day-to-day bookkeeping, petty cash, and banking accounts. You will work alongside the Directors to prepare budgets, cash flow forecasts, and quarterly management accounts, as well as ensure funding reports are submitted accurately and on time. Additionally, you will assist with basic HR administration and liaise with independent examiners for annual account preparation.

Our Mission

Mental ill-health isn’t simply an individual problem – inequity and discrimination by gender, class, ethnicity, disability, and other factors can leave people feeling stigmatised, isolated and powerless.

We change that.

Through user-led training and support groups, Humans Being brings people together to help them find their strengths, develop confidence, and thrive. Our work empowers people to shape their own futures, build meaningful connections, and make lasting, positive changes in their lives.

Our work

Humans Being provides wellbeing courses for community members, staff and volunteers. The courses are run at our partner organisation venues and occasionally online using Zoom. They are aimed at people in Leeds who may benefit from learning wellbeing skills and connecting and sharing with others. These include: older women; men dealing with mental ill-health; isolated men; volunteers; carers; people dealing with mild or moderate anxiety or depression; domestic violence survivors; refugees and asylum seekers; mothers; and isolated people.

How we work

We have a team of three permanent staff (one of whom is in this post), the others are the Wellbeing and Development Director and the Director of Women’s Wellbeing.

We operate as a collective, meeting weekly and supporting each other to run the organisation. Courses are sometimes delivered by our freelance trainers, who are managed by the staff. We also have a team of volunteer, non-executive directors. We all work from home and meet online or in person when we’re able. We travel to venues all over Leeds to run our courses in the communities where our service users live.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We take diversity, equity and inclusion very seriously at Humans Being. We have a budget for staff wellbeing and adjustments, and we take every effort to ensure that our staff can use their talents to their full potential. This includes being flexible about working hours and communication styles. We are a proudly trans-inclusive and neurodivergent-friendly organisation, and we expect all staff to share these values.
