Humans Being runs wellbeing courses and sessions for women who are, or are at risk of, experiencing mental ill-health.
The aim of Women Supporting Women is to provide a safe space for women to share problems and talk through solutions in a positive, constructive way, as well as learning new skills for confidence-building and relaxation.
Women Supporting Women Course Dates!
We are delighted to announce that we have received further funding to run this course. If you have a women’s group interested in feeling good inside out, please get in touch to arrange it.
Women Supporting Women sessions are now running in-person where safe. We can still run courses online if that suits your community better.
These sessions are relaxed group discussions focusing on keeping well and looking after your mental health.
The course runs for six weekly sessions of two hours. Topics covered are open to the group to decide; here are some examples:
- Be You: Discover what matters to you and how to protect it
- Be Boundared: Explore why it’s so hard to have boundaries and what they can do for us.ives
- Be Compassionate: Learn how being kind to ourselves can bring ease and comfort.
- Be Rebellious: Discuss how by breaking out ‘the gender box’ we can choose our own standards of beauty, success and more and live a lighter life.
- Be Brave: learn how to ask for what you need without nagging and feel supported
- Relaxation techniques: learn tools for feeling more relaxed.
- Conversation skills: learn the power of listening and asking questions to enable change
It has amazed me how open and honest we all are. I’ve not got a lot of friends at the moment. To hear other ladies’ stories and be able to make that connection with mine, it’s like a lifeline, each woman’s story is like a little lifeline.
I just felt so lonely and like I wasn’t good enough... like I was in a prison cell, everyone wanted to sweep me under the carpet. In this group I’ve been able to connect with human beings. From doing stuff with you, I’m now doing stuff at Uni! I know I’m succeeding. I would never have said that before this course.
It made me realise that women are a greater group than I thought. I'm 80 and my generation wasn’t taught to see that life can be harder for women, that we aren’t given the same opportunities and rights. I learnt that we women are part of something bigger and I feel liberated.
