WellMen Activist Training is a course designed to help men help each other. With a particular focus on men’s mental health, the course covers practical skills and strategies for supporting other men in leading healthier and happier lives, such as:
- Using your strengths to support others
- Men, masculinity and health
- How to have ‘little chats’ that make a big difference
- Signposting and motivating men to connect to services in Leeds
- Healthy, safe and happy relationships
- Suicide risk awareness and action
- Group work facilitation skills
You helped me work on my self-esteem. I've become more assertive, I've become happier.
I was made to feel comfortable straight away, even though I knew no one, I felt safe and confident in sharing personal stories and feelings.
I've started to recognize the things that help me relax and I look forward to helping volunteers in my groups to recognize their own. I think the suicide prevention week was particularly important, due to personal circumstances, it really did help with a difficult situation.

WellMen Activist Training is available to men who are living or volunteering in South or East Leeds. After the course, we keep supporting participants to go back to their communities and put into practice what they’ve learned.
Whatever you want to achieve, we can help you make a difference.
